Today's entry will finish the brake lines on the RV-12 aircraft. ONe interesting thing about building aircraft is when one gets into the system installation it take a lot of time and most outsiders don't see much progress. But don't worry as it's been said before: "If you don't have time to do it right the first time, when are you going to have time to do it again?"
Step 1: Page 27-05 As shown in figure 1, the Main Brake Lines run from between the Center Section Bulkheads to the master cylinders on the left side of the fuselage. Start installing the nuts at the aft end of the main brake lines, then route the brake lines forward, through the snap bushings and the System blocks, to the left side master cylinders. The forward end of the main brake lines are secured as directed in Steps 2-5, the aft end of the main brake lines are secured in Section 35, Landing Gear & Engine Mount.
Step 2: Install the nuts on the forward end of the Left & Right Main Brake Lines.
Step 3: Mark the Left Main Brake Lines 28 inches from its froward end and the Right Main Brake Line 27 1/2 inches from its forward end.
Step 4: At the marks made in Step 3, secure the Main Brake Lines to the Tunnel Rib using the hardware called out by Van's AIrcraft in figure 2 on page 27-05.
Step 5: Secure the Main Brake Mines to the lower elbow of both left side master cylinders as shown in figure 2 on page 20-05.
Step 1: Reference page 27-06 Install the nuts on one end of both the Left and Right Reservoir Brake Lines
Step 2: Secure the Reservoir Brake Lines to the upper elbow of both right side master cylinders as shown infigure 1 of the RV-12 plans on page 27-06. THe other end of the reservoir brake lines are securded to the brake reservoir in Section 32, Flight Controls.
As a final step I like to vacuum test the brake system for leaks and then cap off the loose ends so they don't get damaged. This completes section 27 Rudder Pedals & Brake System.
